Nottingham Hospitals Charity

We're here to help you to help your local hospitals. We're the charity at the heart of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, supporting the best care for patients.

All of the money you raise goes to help save lives, build a better NHS or support research at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The Trust is made up of your local hospitals - Nottingham City Hospital, the Queen's Medical Centre, and Ropewalk House.

We are the only charity that is 100% dedicated to your local hospitals. By working with us at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, the money you donate goes directly to support NHS care in Nottingham. Together we are improving the things that matter to our patients, carers, visitors and staff.

We work with local people, patients, businesses and the staff to ensure that there is more money each year to help support:

o   new facilities, like family-friendly wards and comfy chairs for visitors

o   the latest specialist equipment, such as state-of-the-art ultrasound scanners that the NHS alone is unable to provide

o   medical research into a whole host of conditions, from breast cancer to osteoarthritis

o   NHS staff development - we fund leadership and other development programmes to help hospital staff provide the best possible care they can

The money you raise is invested directly in the services, facilities and healthcare that are important to patients and essential in helping to make hospital care in Nottingham the best in the country.

Maggie's Cancer Centres

Maggie's is about empowering people to live with, through and beyond cancer by bringing together professional help, communities of support and building design to create exceptional centres for cancer care.
Maggie’s Centres are for anyone affected by cancer. They are places where people are welcome whenever they need us – from just being diagnosed, or undergoing treatment, to post-treatment, recurrence, end of life or in bereavement.

We also welcome family and friends, as they are often deeply affected by cancer too. We know that those who love and look after someone with cancer can feel just as frightened, vulnerable and uncertain.  Our visitors tell us that the welcome they receive at Maggie’s is what they appreciate the most. Just walking through our doors puts them at ease. This is a key part of our pioneering approach that integrates professional help with a community of support in thoughtfully designed centres, a combination that is proving highly effective in alleviating the emotional distress and practical difficulties that cancer brings. Everything we provide is free of charge, so visitors can feel welcome to access our support for as long as they need it.

Long Eaton Art Room

Long Eaton Art Room is a voluntary organisation that believes anyone can benefit from the therapeutic qualities of art & craft making. We were established in April 2006 by a group of enthusiastic creative people for the general public to use as a meeting place where they can relax, have fun making things and learn at their own pace.

Along with our open studio sessions here at the art-room, we do a lot of community workshops - our focus is to provide services accessible to all, including working with disadvantaged people to help them play a fuller role in the community.

As well as participating in art for pleasure we are proud to say that we have helped some of our customers to progress onto either further education or become successful self employed artists.

We have also built strong ties with a number of community groups, local schools and the local authority, running creative workshops at either the Art Room or at specific community events.
